Since the commencement of the Primary Health Network (PHN) program in 2015, expectations of PHNs have adapted and evolved in response to changing national health policy priorities and initiatives at a local level.
Like many agencies across the public sector, PHNs are working within tighter funding settings and higher delivery costs. This means we need to change our operating models to remain financially sustainable to deliver on our commitments and regulatory obligations.
WAPHA is navigating our changed strategic and policy environment with less capacity, and accordingly, we are in the process of implementing a new organisational structure. We have made unavoidable and difficult business decisions to ensure we continue our important work with our partners across the health system during changing and challenging times.
Throughout the timeline of the internal change we are undertaking, our work in commissioning, capacity building and coordination, and the way we work with our stakeholders, will remain on course. Unless advised otherwise, points of contact, referral pathways and day-to-day relationships will not change.
We will keep stakeholders informed about the changes, which aim to strengthen and sustain WAPHA for the future. We remain committed to improving health equity for the communities we serve across Western Australians.
