An Expression of Interest (EOI) is now open for Medicare Urgent Care Clinics (UCC) in Midland, Murdoch and Bunbury and their respective surrounding suburbs, as part of a staged rollout of seven UCCs across Western Australia.
Accredited general practices and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services within the three designated areas have been invited by email to submit an EOI from Monday 29 May with applications closing at 12.00pm, Monday 10 July 2023.
Following an EOI for the first three Medicare UCCs earlier this year, Rudloc Road Medical and Dental Centre, Morley has been confirmed with a further two clinics in the Joondalup and Rockingham areas in the advanced stages. All three clinics are expected to open on 30 June 2023.
A separate process will be undertaken for the seventh Medicare UCC to be located in Broome.
If your practice is within the three current designated locations of Midland, Murdoch and Bunbury and you have not yet received an email inviting you to express an interest, please contact tenders@wapha.org.au
About Medicare UCCs
The Medicare UCC approach is governed by a Commonwealth and State bilateral agreement. WA Primary Health Alliance is commissioning the WA Medicare UCCs, working closely with the Australian Government, WA Department of Premier and Cabinet, WA Department of Health and local Health Service Providers.
The new clinics will be located within existing facilities, such as general practices and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
Medicare UCCs will provide treatment for urgent, but not life-threatening, illnesses and injuries requiring same day assessment for people who may otherwise have visited an emergency department.
The clinics will operate 7 days a week over extended hours, bulk bill all eligible patients, have doctors and nurses with training and experience in urgent care, walk-in availability, access to a pooled network of resources and the ability to streamline referrals into local hospitals.
