A new Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) has opened in Booragoon, giving local residents more options for timely treatment of urgent care.
The clinic provides same-day care for illnesses and injuries that don’t require an emergency department visit, helping ease pressure on hospitals while ensuring patients receive prompt attention close to home.
Located at 1 Aldous Place, Booragoon, and run by Brecken Health, the clinic operates seven days a week, welcomes walk-ins, and delivers all services at no cost. To maintain continuity of care, details of each visit will be shared with the patient’s regular GP.
The new clinic demonstrates the Australian Government’s commitment to improving access to urgent care for local communities. It will make it easier for families to receive timely treatment close to home, reducing the need to travel long distances for non-life-threatening conditions.
As the commissioner in Western Australia, WA Primary Health Alliance is focused on integrating Medicare UCCs into the broader general practice network and strengthening links between primary and acute care.
The provider will be encouraged to collaborate with local general practices, hospitals and other health services to establish clear care pathways. This includes sharing treatment and referral information with patients’ usual GPs to support continuity of care.
The Booragoon clinic will join a growing network of Medicare UCCs across Western Australia, including sites already operating in Beeliar, Broome, Bunbury, Clarkson, Ellenbrook, Gosnells, Midland, Perth City (Morley) and Rockingham, as well as the recently opened clinics in Ellenbrook, Geraldton, Nollamara, Mundaring and Yanchep.
