General practice can play an important role in relieving pressure on hospital emergency departments by offering urgent care in the community setting, and this model of care has benefits for both GPs and patients alike.
Our CEO Learne Durrington recently sat down with GP and practice owner at Ocean Keys Family Practice, Dr Tim Koh, to talk about the establishment of Clarkson Medicare Urgent Care Clinic and their experience of GP-led urgent care to date.
The Australian Government is investing $385.5 million over five years to fund 58 Medicare Urgent Care Clinics nationally. WA Primary Health Alliance is commissioning seven Urgent Care Clinics in WA, located in Morley, Clarkson, Rockingham, Midland, Beeliar, Bunbury and Broome. Clinics in Morley and Rockingham opened in July, Clarkson opened in August, and Beeliar and Bunbury are opening in November.
