EOIs sought for WA’s first Medihotel

Medihotels are a key element of the State Government’s Putting Patients First Policy 2016. They are designed to reduce length of hospital stays by supporting patients discharged from hospital who are still recovering and provide them with accommodation and ongoing care.

Expressions of interest are now being sought from GPs to provide services in the State’s first Medihotel. The 60-bed facility will form part of the new Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct adjacent to Fiona Stanley and St John of God Murdoch hospitals and include an integrated 175-bed aged care facility. The Medihotel will offer step-up, post-acute and step-down care for patients through a multidisciplinary team supporting patients with a range of conditions, including management of chronic conditions.

This provides a unique opportunity for an innovative general practice to provide clinical oversight and in-reach services to patients, while actively participating in the development of the Medihotel continued model of care. It will also provide an opportunity for a practice to establish the on-site GP Urgent Care Clinic.

For further information on the service model and requirements, including the GP Expressions of Interest brochure and Returnable Schedule, visit the Murdoch Precinct website or contact Leanne Milligan at Aegis Aged Care Group on 0466 151 322.

Expressions of Interest close 29 July 2019.
