In this month’s Better Health, Together video, WA Primary Health Alliance CEO, Learne Durrington talks about My Health Record.
There are many benefits of digital health to patients, and this includes fewer hospital admissions and adverse drug events, reduced duplications of tests, better coordination of care for people with chronic and complex conditions, better informed treatment decisions, and a more effective and efficient healthcare system.
As part of the National Digital Health Strategy, the Australian Digital Health Agency has made a commitment to create a My Health Record for every Australian by the end of 2018, unless they opt out by 15 November 2018. My Health Record is an online summary of a patient’s key health information where they can safely store, access and share important health information.
WA Primary Health Alliance has engaged with 100% of general practices and pharmacies in WA to generate awareness of the My Health Record expansion and offer training. We are working closely with the Pharmacy Guild and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia to connect other pharmacies. WAPHA is also working with allied health and medical specialist practices to raise awareness about My Health Record.
We have busted some popular My Health Record myths on Primary Health Exchange, our online consultation hub. If there’s a question you would like answered, submit it on Primary Health Exchange and we will get back to you with an answer.
