By Learne Durrington, WA Primary Health Alliance CEO
In 2019/2020, we, like many organisations, had to rethink many aspects of the way we work. And while this time has changed our workplace and work practices, it has only served to strengthen our commitment to achieving our vision – Better Health, Together.
I am delighted to confirm that this year, we continued to strengthen our partnerships with peak bodies, state and local government, Health Service Providers as well as with our network of councils and committees.
By partnering for integration and through joint planning, co-commissioning and shared outcomes, we advanced our aim to join up the health system and improve health equity through better access and outcomes for all Western Australians.
Hear from our Chair and myself about stepping up, silver linings and being here to stay.
Significantly, we progressed agreements with the state’s four Health Service Providers as a key deliverable of both the Sustainable Health Review and the 10-Year Primary Health Care Plan, with a renewed MOU with the Mental Health Commission also underway.
And importantly, alongside many of these same groups, we facilitated the primary care response to the COVID-19 pandemic across our state.
During this time, we continued to deliver on our other commitments, including investing $126 million into 279 programs to improve the health and wellbeing of Western Australians, with a trend toward co-design with service providers, clinicians and consumers.
Hear how we strengthened partnerships, supported primary care and listened to the community to increase health access and outcomes
And with the recent launch of our new Strategic Plan 2020-2023, Better Health, Together, we are well placed to continue to deliver on our core commitments to our funder, members, partners, GPs, service providers and the community.
Thank you to our Board for their ongoing inspiration and support, my Executive Team for their wisdom and guidance and to our staff whose drive and enthusiasm allows us to achieve our goals.
I hope you enjoy reading our 2019-20 Year in Review.
